Baltimore’s sloppy defense made Chisholm’s day a lot more notable. He first scored in the second after colliding with catcher Maverick Handley, who was out of position trying to catch a poor throw. It left Handley with an injury that forced him to exit. Chisholm was fine, though he did lose a shoe on the play. That was the Yankees’ lone run until Chisholm doubled to the wall in right-center in the eighth. Paul Goldschmidt was able to score from first because of a poor relay, and Chisholm subsequently scored on a weak grounder because Gary Sánchez couldn’t make an easy catch. Chisholm has hit in five straight games and is batting .350/.420/.567 since coming off the IL.

Goldschmidt figures to get plenty of chances this week with the Yankees set to face at least two left-handers, including Cincinnati southpaw Nick Lodolo on Monday night. The 37-year-old sat both games over the weekend against the Orioles after making four straight starts. It’ll be Ben Rice on the bench with Giancarlo Stanton occupying the DH spot.

Stroman is scheduled to throw approximately 70 pitches on Tuesday in a Triple-A start and then could be activated for a weekend start if all goes well. The Yankees have an open spot in the rotation with Ryan Yarbrough (oblique) landing on the IL. Allan Winans will start on Monday, and it seems like he or Stroman will be the choices for a weekend spot in the rotation.

Westburg remains on the bench for the second straight contest after jamming his left index finger during Saturday’s tilt against the Yankees on a stolen base attempt. X-rays came back negative for any fractures, but the Orioles are going to proceed with an abundance of caution. It’ll be veteran Ramón Urías taking over at the hot corner on Monday night in his absence.
