Polanco started off the season on fire and then cooled considerably in May. He began the month of June with hits in his first 10 starts off the month, but he has cooled again and is hitting just .221/.271/.299 in 21 games during the month with one home run and two steals. You can likely find better options in fantasy leagues. Cal Raleigh will slot in as the designated hitter on Thursday, which will allow Mitch Garver to start behind the plate.

Kirby deserved better, but the Mariners couldn’t solve Joe Ryan so it’s a hard-luck loss; one Kirby has unfortunately been familiar with in his time with Seattle. He walked just one while striking out three, and is starting to look more like the version fantasy managers were hoping to see prior to 2025. He should continue to see his 5.40 ERA trend downward, and takes on the Royals on Monday in Seattle.

Rodríguez had three strikeouts and two sacrifice flies. Baseball-Reference says it’s just the third time that’s happened since 1900; J.T. Snow did it for the Giants in 2001 and the immortal Omir Santos matched the feat in 2009. For Rodríguez, it makes seven RBI in three games. That’s not spectacular, but we’ll take it; he had totaled six RBI over his previous 26 games.

Castillo gave up five hits and two walks in a four-run fourth that could have been considerably worse if not for a double-play ball from Ryan Jeffers. He allowed just one other hit, though that was a solo homer from Kody Clemens in the third. Castillo is pretty obviously a below average starter at this point, but being propped up by T-Mobile Park, he remains a viable option in mixed leagues. He’ll probably makes his next start Sunday in Texas, but it’d be awesome if he somehow got pushed back to facing the Royals at home on Monday.

McKinstry’s stolen base was his ninth, but he was also caught stealing for the second time. His two-run triple was already his eighth of the season, and he also singled twice. The 30-year-old has been a solid contributor for the Tigers with a .277 average, 24 RBI and a .793 OPS over 73 games.

McKinstry started both games of Thursday’s doubleheader against the Pirates, so he has certainly earned a night off. Colt Keith will make his second consecutive start at third base and will bat leadoff for the Tigers on Friday evening against Rays’ right-hander Shane Baz.
