This was vintage Berríos. His lineup gave him an early lead and he never let Boston get close to clawing their way back into this game. He worked all four quadrants of the zone with his slurve leading the way followed by an even mix of fastballs, sinkers, and changeups. He’s now completed at least six innings in seven of his last eight starts and has a fantastic 3.26 ERA on the season. His next start is scheduled to come at home against the Yankees.

The 26-year-old infielder will add some depth to the Blue Jays’ infield with Alan Roden heading back to Triple-A Buffalo. Wagner has hit just .186 (11-for-59) with zero homers with two homers and one stolen base in his limited action with the big league club this season.

The 25-year-old outfielder was seeing limited action during this time with the Jays, so he’ll return to an everyday role at the Triple-A level instead of languishing on the bench. Will Wagner was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move on Saturday.

This was a huge game for the Blue Jays’ lineup and Springer got them started on the right foot with a run-scoring single in the first inning off Brayan Bello. They chipped away at Bello and eventually broke this game open against Boston’s bullpen. Springer was part of their final rally too with another RBI single in the eighth inning when this game was already out of reach. He’s enjoyed a true renaissance this season with 11 home runs, nine stolen bases, and an .832 OPS just past the halfway point of the season.
