José Ramírez hit a solo homer, stole a base and scored twice to help the Guardians top the Astros 4-2 on Wednesday.

On the day it was announced that Ramírez won’t be participating in the All-Star Game, the 32-year-old showed why he deserves to go with his 17th homer of the season. The steal was his 25th of the season, and he’s now slashing a robust .301/.366/.512 over 88 games. Ramírez will enjoy a deserved week off, but he remains one of the best players in the sport whether he attends the event or not.

The 24-year-old slugger had been away from the team since Monday. He returns to a .217/.289/.429 with 13 homers and 33 RBI through his first 284 plate appearances on the season. Jhonkensy Noel was optioned back to Triple-A Columbus in a corresponding move on Thursday.

As expected, Bregman is back for the weekend series against the Rays after missing six weeks with his quad strain. The third baseman is expected to play in two games this weekend, and Friday will be one of them with Bregman lined up at third base and hitting second. Bregman should be back in fantasy lineups now that he’s back for Boston.

Red Sox’ manager Alex Cora said Thursday that Alex Bregman (quad) will return from the injured list and play in two games at Fenway Park over the weekend against the Rays.

Cora didn’t commit to which two games Bregman would play in, or which day he would be activated from the injured list, but Friday seems the most likely target. The 31-year-old slugger was slashing .299/.385/.553 with 11 homers and 35 RBI through his first 51 games before landing on the injured list in late May with a right quad strain.
