The Astros were certainly disappointed to call on Hader since they were leading this game 7-0 after the fourth inning, but their middle relievers let the Cubs get back into this game. Hader made quick work of Ian Happ to close it out though to tie the league-lead with his 22nd save of the season.

Javier is one of several injured hurlers for the Astros who will be throwing live bullpen sessions in the coming days. The 28-year-old isn’t a lock to pitch for Houston in 2025, but he could be a big boost for the club for the final couple of weeks — perhaps sooner — of the campaign.

Garcia will be joined by Cristian Javier in throwing live BPs at some point in the early portion of July. The hope is that Garcia will be able to help the Houston rotation at some point in August.

France is working his way back from the capsule tear in his right shoulder. He’ll need to make a few rehab starts before he can join the Houston rotation, but he could be an option not long after the All-Star break.
