It’s not known if this is a day off related to the neck injury that sidelined Naylor, a chance to get a break against a tough left-hander in Robbie Ray or both. The 28-year-old will sit with Tim Tawa getting the start at first base.

The run is unearned because it came in the 10th inning and it was the “zombie” runner who crossed the plate. It came on a sac fly from Andrew Bailey, and he didn’t allow a hit. It’s a loss for Miller — the third of the season — but at least it’s not a blown save and it didn’t hurt his ERA at all. We always look for positives. Miller has provided a good number of them thus far in 2025 to the surprise of most.

Kelly gave up two runs in the first, but settled down nicely after while giving up just one more in the fifth. The 36-year-old was not good during Friday’s start against Miami, but he bounced back the way he usually does after a clunker. Kelly will take on the Padres on Monday in what likely be his penultimate start before the All-Star break.

Let’s try this again. Naylor makes his return to Arizona’s lineup at DH on Wednesday night following a four-game absence due to neck spasms. It’s the type of issue that can be persistent and tends to linger so the hope for fantasy managers is that the extra time off put the issue to bed. The 28-year-old first baseman has put together an excellent Diamondbacks debut so far, hitting .304 with 10 homers and 10 steals through 77 games.

The switch-hitter is riding a modest four-game hitting streak, but he has also gone just 8-for-45 (.178) with two RBIs and no home runs over an 11-game stretch that included eight games in Coors Field and three games in a hitter-friendly park in Milwaukee. We knew Toglia would struggle with batting average, but if he’s not going to take advantage of extended stretches at Coors Field, it’s hard to argue for keeping Toglia on your rosters. Orlando Arcia will start at first base and bat seventh on Thursday.

With the score tied at 4-4, Freeman singled in Shohei Ohtani to give the Dodgers the win on a day that will best be remembered for Clayton Kershaw picking up strikeout number 3,000. Freeman is now hitting .309/.381/.500 on the season, and it seems pretty likely he’ll be joining Kershaw in Cooperstown someday.

The Guardians had a homer parade early against Shota Imanaga with Santana, David Fry, and Lane Thomas giving them an early 3-0 lead. Then, Tanner Bibee unraveled and they couldn’t fight back. Santana has been the same steady, boring contributor he’s always been so far this season with 10 home runs, four stolen bases, and a .708 OPS just past the halfway point of the season.
