Arizona is going to give Naylor some extra time off, likely out of an abundance of caution, after exiting Monday’s contest with right shoulder soreness. The fact that he was in Tuesday’s original lineup is an encouraging sign. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. It’ll be a sizzling-hot Pavin Smith taking over for him at the hot corner.

Ugh. Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo told reporters Suárez has “a ton of swelling” in his right hand, which they’ll need to subside before he undergoes a precautionary MRI to rule out any structural damage. It’s possible he winds up avoiding a trip to the injured list, but fantasy managers shouldn’t anticipate him returning to Arizona’s lineup for at least a couple days.

Naylor hurt himself while taking a big cut last night, but he’s going to play through it for a team already missing Corbin Carroll, Eugenio Suárez and Gabriel Moreno.

McCarthy will get another chance after batting .314/.401/.440 in 49 games for Triple-A Reno. That line sounds OK, but it’s Reno; McCarthy hit .369/.457/.597 in his first stay there in 2022 and .360/.414/.594 in 45 games there in 2023. Odds are that McCarthy will be a liability as a likely starter against righties, though since he can steal bases, he might offer a little fantasy value in deeper leagues.

The Athletic’s Matt Gelb adds that Harper remains without a definitive return timetable, but it sounds like there’s a chance he’s back in Philadelphia’s lineup at some point later this week or early next week. The 32-year-old fantasy stalwart has been out since early June recovering from wrist inflammation. It’s a positive sign that he’s resumed hitting and going through his normal pregame routine again. He’s expected to take batting practice on Wednesday. There’s a chance he’s back later this week to face Atlanta, but that’s purely speculation at this point.

It’s a rare off day for Schanuel, who is spared from having to face Red Sox ace Garrett Crochet, after going 0-for-5 with a pair of strikeouts during Monday’s series-opening win. He went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer and four RBI during Sunday’s loss to the Astros. It’ll be LaMonte Wade Jr. taking over at first base with Gustavo Campero getting a turn in right field.

Olson has occupied the second spot on Atlanta’s lineup card for three consecutive contests with Austin Riley and Drake Baldwin hitting cleanup and fifth, respectively, on Tuesday night after sharing the position directly behind top-of-the-order igniter Ronald Acuña Jr. in recent weeks. It’s a slight boost for Olson, who should pick up a couple additional at-bats over the course of the next few weeks as a result of the move. The 31-year-old slugging first baseman has been red-hot of late, batting .309 (17-for-55) with two homers and 15 RBI over his last 15 games. He’s also walked 11 times during that span.
