The 24-year-old hurler struck out four batters on the night while issuing one base on balls. All of the scoring done against him came via the long ball, as TJ Friedl swatted a solo shot in the third inning and Elly De La Cruz added a solo blast in the fifth inning. Montero got six swings and misses on 83 pitches in the ballgame, posting a CSW of 28 percent. On the season, he now sports a 3-1 ERA, 4.24 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and a 34/18 K/BB ratio over 51 innings through his first 10 outings. He’ll do battle against the Pirates his next time out at home on Thursday and could make for a viable streaming option in deeper mixed leagues.
