Rocker struggled to stay ahead of hitters, and threw 38-of-68 pitches for strikes before leaving. There wasn’t a ton of hard contact, but the 25-year-old’s poor command doomed him Saturday night. Rocker has alternated quality starts with shaky ones, which isn’t a huge surprise for a rookie hurler. Rocker will try and bounce back Friday, but that start is against the Dodgers. Fantasy managers shouldn’t take the chance if they don’t have to.

Smith will not start for a third consecutive game because of his hamstring tightness. The good news is Rangers manager Bruce Bochy told reporters that Smith will be available off the bench. Assuming no setbacks, there’s a very good chance that Smith will be back in the Texas starting nine by the end of the weekend.

The question now is whether Martin will be available Thursday. The right-hander recently returned from the injured list because of a shoulder issue, so the Rangers may take even more precaution with the 39-year-old.

Gray also mixed in breaking pitches for the first time since landing on the IL with a fractured wrist. Assuming he bounces back well from the bullpen, Gray should face live hitters during a simulated game or live batting practice and then progress to what will be a lengthy rehab assignment.
