Crawford, 29, has dealt with knee and wrist issues, but it’s the latter that’s given him the most trouble as of late. The right-hander will likely need to throw several bullpens before going on a rehab assignment, and then could be an option for Boston near/after the All-Star break.

Fitts was rushed back from his earlier rehab assignment after a pectoral injury because the Red Sox were without Walker Buehler and Tanner Houck at the time and weren’t comfortable with Hunter Dobbins pitching three times through a batting order. Unsurprisingly, rushing Fitts back didn’t go well, and he returned to Triple-A to essentially finish his rehab assignment. Fitts looks like he’s ready to rejoin the rotation, and with Walker Buehler having yet another poor start after returning from the IL, you have to wonder if Boston is willing to make a change.
