The Diamondbacks entered the ninth inning trailing 4-0, but they were able to get to Joel Payamps and Trevor Megill for five runs in the bottom of the frame to get the win. Gurriel has now driven in eight runs, but has scuffled to a slash of .154/.179/.308 in 2025. He’ll assuredly get that line up in the coming days/weeks.

Moreno was scratched Tuesday from the lineup because of soreness in his right hand, and it’ll keep him out Wednesday. Jose Herrera is in the lineup behind the plate and will hit ninth. Moreno remains day-to-day.

Feinsand acknowledges that Arizona is still in the playoff hunt, but with Corbin Burnes and Justin Martinez out for the season, it may be hard for them to remain in the mix. With so many teams looking for an impact corner infield bat, Arizona could get a nice return by trading away Naylor, who will be a free agent at the end of the season. Feinsand lists the Mariners, Rangers and Red Sox as potential destinations.

Naylor smacked a one-out single off of Chris Bassitt in the fourth inning and came around to score the Diamondbacks’ first run on a two-out RBI single by Pavin Smith. The 27-year-old first baseman then delivered a run-scoring double in the fifth that gave the Snakes a 3-2 advantage. With his two-hit attack, Naylor is now hitting .302/.356/.474 with nine homers, 49 RBI and nine stolen bases in what has been a terrific all-around season thus far.

As Feinsand notes, the Angels “have been hesitant to trade Ward during the past two years,” but he has a near $8 million salary and only one more year of club control, so this could finally be the time. Ward has 18 home runs in his first 69 games this season while also driving in 47 runs with a .741 OPS. He ranks in the 86th percentile in barrel rate and the 87th percentile in chase rate this season, and really turned his year around after a slow start. Feinsand lists the Guardians, Padres, Rays and Royals as potential trade partners.

Most importantly, Chandler walked one after his struggles with command before. Still, throwing only 42 of 79 pitches for strikes is not ideal. He struck out three and is still too good to be staying at Triple-A. We’re not sure what the Pirates are asking him to work out in Triple-A, but he can likely do that in MLB games as well.
