Castillo punched out four opposing hitters on the day while issuing a pair of free passes. The 32-year-old right-hander allowed an RBI single to Josh Jung in the second inning, but that would be the extent of the damage done against him. He got 13 whiffs on 106 pitches on the day — nine of those on his fastball which averaged 95.3 mph — while posting a CSW of 23 percent. He’ll tote a 3.55 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and a 79/32 K/BB ratio into Friday’s tilt against the Pirates.

Polanco was cleared to return to action after meeting with the surgeon that performed the operation in his left knee over the weekend, so it doesn’t sound like he’s going to require a trip to the injured list. The 31-year-old will sit out his fourth straight game on Monday after aggravating his troublesome left knee during a game last week in Chicago.

Garver got the Mariners on the board and tied the game at one run apiece with an RBI single off of Jack Leiter in the sixth inning that plated Randy Arozarena.
