Ortiz gave up six hits, walked one and struck out five. Ortiz was really up against it in this one as the Guardians offense could only muster one hit let alone any runs against Cardinals ace Sonny Gray. It’s difficult to win like that and Ortiz was saddled with his ninth loss of the year. His ERA is up to 4.36 on the year while his 3.67 xFIP shows he’s been a bit better than that. Ortiz will look for better luck and maybe even some run support in his next start against the Cubs on the road next week.

Ramírez sat out Friday’s game as a precautionary measure with a bruised right forearm, but he’s right back in there at third base and batting third against Miles Mikolas and the Cardinals on Saturday afternoon in Cleveland. Fantasy managers can breathe a major sigh of relief.

The 32-year-old superstar was plunked during Thursday’s beanball war against the Blue Jays and suffered a bruised right forearm. The expectation remains that he’ll be able to return to action before the weekend is through and that he won’t require a trip to the injured list. Daniel Schneemann will cover the hot corner in his place on Friday night and will bat fifth against Sonny Gray and the Cardinals.

That was short. Kent gets demoted back to Triple-A just a day after being promoted to the majors. The 6-foot-3 right-hander gets the boot with Erik Sabrowski (elbow) reinstated off the 60-day injured list as a corresponding transaciton.
