Hancock heads back to Triple-A after a mediocre — at best — start against the Royals where he allowed five runs over six innings. The Mariners could recall Logan Evans as a starting option before the All-Star break, but also could operate with a four-man rotation for a bit due to off-days. Hancock has shown flashes of being a solid starting option, but there are just too many clunkers to trust him at this stage of his career.

The 24-year-old hurler will hop into the Mariners’ rotation on Thursday evening against the Royals. Evans has done a nice job in seven starts for the M’s this season, registering a 3.38 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and a 30/12 K/BB ratio over 40 innings. The rest of the team’s rotation will be pushed back a day, with Bryan Woo starting Friday’s series opener against the Pirates.

The 30-year-old southpaw had his contract selected on Wednesday but he didn’t wind up getting into a game for the Mariners. Logan Evans will take his place on the M’s active roster and will start on Thursday evening against the Royals.

After a major power lull for the majority of June, Randy is “on one” as the kids to say. He homered for the third-straight game to bring his total to 12 on the season, and then drove in another run on a sac fly. Arozarena isn’t the superstar he looked like he could have been five years ago, but he’s a solid player who provides solid pop and speed. And when he’s at his best? There aren’t many better.
