Credit to the Cubs for fighting back in this one after falling behind 7-0 by the fourth inning. Shaw was the key contributor to their comeback, with a two-run double in the seventh inning and then another RBI double in the ninth which forced Houston to bring Josh Hader into the game they were once leading by seven runs. It’s been a trying rookie season for Shaw with just a .615 OPS. This was also the first time he’s had an extra-base hit in eight games.

Yikes. The Astros absolutely teed off on Horton. Yainer Diaz and Cam Smith each hit loud three-run home runs off him, which made this game get ugly quickly. Each blast came on the first pitch of their respective at-bats and were pulled deep into the left field stands. Diaz yanked a sweeper that didn’t sweep enough and Cam Smith turned on an up-and-in fastball. Neither pitch was in a bad spot, which is almost more worrisome considering how badly they were crushed. This game was a good reminder that Horton’s tight, mostly two-pitch repertoire can leave him susceptible to games like this. He’ll look to get back on track next time out against the Guardians at home.

The 109.6-mph liner to right in the second innings was Busch’s first ever homer in Busch Stadium. He later added a 106.3-mph single off Andre Pallante. Busch isn’t going to be an NL All-Star unless a couple of first basemen drop out, but he does have the numbers; he’s batting .311/.386/.608 with six homers in June, elevating his season OPS to .869.

Imanaga allowed just two hard-hit balls, both coming on the six sweepers he threw this afternoon. His 46 fastballs produced five outs and 27 strikes, with 19 of those coming on foul balls, and he struck out three. Imanaga, who had been out since early May with a hamstring strain, moved to 4-2 with a 2.54 ERA on the season. He’ll face the Guardians next time out.

Ramírez sat out Friday’s game as a precautionary measure with a bruised right forearm, but he’s right back in there at third base and batting third against Miles Mikolas and the Cardinals on Saturday afternoon in Cleveland. Fantasy managers can breathe a major sigh of relief.

The 26-year-old infielder will add some depth to the Blue Jays’ infield with Alan Roden heading back to Triple-A Buffalo. Wagner has hit just .186 (11-for-59) with zero homers with two homers and one stolen base in his limited action with the big league club this season.

As expected, Suárez rejoined Arizona’s lineup on Friday night following a two-game absence earlier this week after being hit by a pitch on the right hand. The 33-year-old slugger is on pace to threaten the 50-homer threshold for the first time in his career, so it’s undoubtedly a positive to see him avoid serious injury.
