Blue Jays manager John Schneider added that they’re targeting one of the games next week during a three-game series against the Guardians, which kicks off on Tuesday night, for Scherzer to make his return from the injured list. The 40-year-old veteran will need to get through Sunday’s throwing session without any issues, which isn’t a lock considering he came out of his final rehab start with some lingering thumb soreness. There should be a final decision on his status at some point before the weekend wraps up. He’s at least worthy of a speculative stash in deeper mixed leagues as a viable streaming option.
