This could be a short stay for Jankowski, unless the team chooses to send down Ronny Mauricio or Jared Young to make room for Mark Vientos later this week. Jankowski, signed to a minor league contract two weeks ago, hit .244/.286/.289 in 49 plate appearances for the Rays earlier this year. He’ll likely mostly pinch-run and come in for defensive purposes late in games.

Vientos needs a few additional rehab contests before returning to New York’s lineup. He’s scheduled to play on Tuesday and Wednesday in the minors, which puts him on track to be activated for Thursday’s series finale against Atlanta at Citi Field. It’s notable that Luisangel Acuña has already been optioned to the minors and Ronny Mauricio seems to be the logical move to get him back on the active roster.

Senga told reporters he’s been able to keep his arm in shape while recovering from a hamstring strain and hopes to return before too long. The 32-year-old righty hit the injured list back in mid-June with a Grade 1 strain and should be able to make it back to New York by mid-July, if not sooner.

We jumped the gun earlier in reporting this as a minor league deal; it turns out Lovelady is going right on to the major league roster. But far more importantly.... Dicky? Dicky Lovelady? Maybe it’s honor of pitching for R.A.'s old team. Lovelady, 29, has a 5.26 ERA in 110 career major league relief appearances.

Moniak’s home run was his 11th of the year. The 27-year-old outfielder crushed a three-run home run off Brandon Pfaadt in the fifth inning. Moniak has hit four home runs in his last six games. With 10 of his 11 home runs this year coming against right-handed pitching, he could be a trade target prior to the deadline and excel in a platoon role on a contender.

Moniak did his damage against Diamondbacks’ right-hander Zac Gallen in the fourth inning, crushing a first pitch knuckle curve for a 452-foot (107.0 mph EV) two-run blast that pulled the Rockies to within two runs at 6-4. With his two-hit attack, the 27-year-old outfielder is now hitting .245/.296/.489 with 10 homers and 24 RBI on the season.

Sean Bouchard was demoted previously to open up a roster spot. Moniak will start in right field against some righties, but he seems destined to lose some playing time until he gets hot or Tyler Freeman cools down.
