Mets manager Carlos Mendoza was noncommittal regarding whether Vientos will be activated on Thursday or if they’ll wait until Friday’s series opener against the Pirates. The positive news is that he’ll make his return to New York’s lineup at some point in the next 48 hours. The 25-year-old corner infielder has been out since early June recovering from a hamstring strain. It’ll likely be Ronny Mauricio heading back to the minors in a corresponding move to continue playing everyday, but that is purely speculation.

Pintaro is a fascinating story as an undrafted free agent who signed out of the Independent League and has pitched well in Binghamton with a 57/15 K/BB ratio and 3.40 ERA in his starts in Double-A. He’ll be a multi-inning option to begin his career, but could see some starting chances depending on how he pitches/how much the Mets need that type of option.

Suárez expressed confidence that he’ll return to Arizona’s lineup for Friday’s series opener against the Marlins. It’s unclear whether he’ll still undergo an MRI out of an abundance of caution, but it’s worth noting that initial X-rays didn’t reveal any fractures. Fantasy managers aren’t out of the woods just yet, but this is certainly an encouraging sign.

That would mean that the earliest we likely will see Bregman back in the lineup for Boston and fantasy lineups is July 18. The 31-year-old has already missed a month with his quad injury, but Boston isn’t going to rush the infielder back to the lineup and risk a potential aggravation. He’ll almost assuredly need a rehab assignment, and that would likely begin in the middle of July if a return right after the break is the goal.
