Gonzalez gets a breather after making 14 consecutive starts at the keystone since June 13. It’ll be veteran utility specialist Adam Frazier taking over at second base. The 26-year-old infielder has been excellent of late, hitting .333 (20-for-60) with two homers and seven RBI over his last 15 games. There’s some appeal here for fantasy managers in extremely deep mixed leagues.

Both homers were two-run shots. The struggling Cruz hadn’t homered since June 10 or had a multihit game since June 4 or had a multi-RBI game since May 28. It’s his second career two-homer game; he also had one on May 23 just before his slump started.

It was quite the quick hook for Burrows. He had just given up a homer, but it was a solo shot with one out, and he was only at 67 pitches with the No. 9 hitter coming up. It probably did factor in that Burrows pitched in relief Wednesday, putting him on three days’ rest today. Still, it was just 31 pitches, and it was his only action in the last nine days. The early exit means Burrows remained stuck at one win through seven big-league starts. He should face the Mariners next.

It would have been a save if Mike Burrows had gotten two more outs, but Burrows was ineligible for the win after being pulled with a 6-1 lead in the fifth. Mlodzinski has a 3.09 ERA in 11 2/3 innings of relief work since being recalled earlier this month.

Chisholm put the first run of the game on the board with a solo homer off Luis Severino in the second inning. He then cleared the bases loaded with a triple in the third to collect four RBI on the day. The 27-year-old infielder is hitting .242/.336/.495 with 13 homers, 31 runs scored, 35 RBI, and 10 steals over 220 plate appearances.

It’s been hard to find anything positive about Albies’ performance this season, but just showing he can still hit a ball 109.9 mph is encouraging. He also had a 101.1-mph groundout today. He hit four balls at least 100 mph in the series against the Phillies after totaling only 26 through his first 80 games.

Donovan homered Saturday, but he’s currently in a 6-for-43 slump, even though he’s struck out just five times during the span. The 0-for-5 left him with a .297 average, putting him under .300 at the end of a game for the first time since Apr. 6.
