Martinez was shellacked for seven hits, and three of those left the park. He did strike out four in his short time on the mound, but that’s not even a consolation prize. Martinez has now given up at least four runs in three of his last four starts, and he’s seen ins ERA balloon from 3.48 to 4.55 in the process. It’d be a mistake to trust him as a streaming option against the Yankees on Tuesday.

Lux took Chris Paddack deep in the third inning with a runner on to cut the Twins’ lead to 7-4. The 27-year-old has provided some value with his .275 average and .365 on-base percentage, but that’s just his third homer of 2025 in 218 at-bats. Hopefully the ball starts traveling over the fence more often off the bat of Lux in the summer months. It should considering his home park.

Encarnacion-Strand has progressively moved lower in the batting order since his return from the IL. He got off to a tremendous start in his first weekend back, but has gone just 3-for-25 since then. With Jeimer Candelario also nearing his return from the IL, Encarnacion-Strand is going to need to turn it around soon before he risks losing more playing time.

The game was halted with two outs in the bottom of the sixth and never resumed afterwards. Steer particularly liked the result, as he collected his sixth homer and 11th double in 265 plate appearances. Playing time is set to again become an issue in the Cincinnati infield with Christian Encarnacion-Strand back, Jeimer Candelario soon to be activated and Noelvi Marte perhaps returning at the end the month. The Reds want Steer to be a regular, but he needs to do better than this current .631 OPS in order to justify regular playing time.
