Padres optioned RHP Matt Waldron to Triple-A El Paso.

Waldron struggled during Monday’s start with six walks, and the Padres are calling up intriguing relief prospect Eduarniel Nuñez to take his place on the roster. It’s possible Waldron could be back making starts this summer, but he’s going to have to show much-improved command for that to take place.
