Meadows capped off a four-run uprising in the fourth inning with a 392-foot (105.5 mph EV) three-run shot off of Orioles’ right-hander Dean Kremer. The 25-year-old outfielder struck out in each of his other two at-bats, finishing the night 1-for-4. He’s off to a slow start at the dish since returning from the injured list, slashing .171/.275/.343 with one homer, three RBI and a pair of stolen bases in his first 40 plate appearances.

Greene swatted a 426-foot (111.1 mph EV) solo shot off of Nick Martinez that gave the Tigers a 2-1 lead in the third inning. He then broke the game open with a bases-clearing three-run double off of Taylor Rogers in the sixth inning that made it a 7-2 ballgame. Greene finished the night 2-for-5. He has been a rock in the middle of the Tigers’ lineup this season, slashing .279/.334/.498 with 14 homers, 48 RBI and one stolen base.

Torres wasted no time in this one, crushing the very first pitch that Nick Martinez threw for a 412-foot (109.2 mph EV) solo shot that gave the Tigers an early 1-0 advantage. He then drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning that extended their lead to 4-2. The 28-year-old second baseman added on a 376-foot (99.9 mph EV) opposite-field solo shot off of Ian Gibaut in the eighth inning. He has been a tremendous addition to the Tigers’ offense this season, slashing .271/.373/.414 with seven homers, 33 RBI and four stolen bases.

Báez belted a 392-foot (100.4 mph EV) solo shot off of Nick Martinez in the fourth inning that extended the Tigers’ early lead to 3-1. He then started a rally with a leadoff walk in the sixth inning and scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Gleyber Torres. Báez added a two-run double in the eighth inning that made it 9-2 before scoring on a two-run single by Jake Rogers. With his three-hit attack, the 32-year-old is now hitting .284/.314/.443 with seven homers and 33 RBI on the season.

Bochy elaborated, “It’s just a little sore. We don’t think it’s serious or anything. He could play tomorrow. We’ll see. But more likely, he’ll get a day off to see if we can get that calmed down.” It sounds like unless Carter wakes up feeling significantly worse on Saturday that he’s not going to be heading for any additional testing and should be able to return to action before the weekend is through.

Astros’ skipper Joe Espada called it a “pretty good” sprain after the game and noted that they’ll know more after he undergoes testing. Expect the club to provide another update on his status prior to Saturday’s ballgame.
