Darrell-Hicks joins Pittsburgh’s bullpen mix prior to Tuesday’s game against the Brewers. The 27-year-old rookie righty was claimed off waivers earlier this month by the Pirates after posting a lackluster 9.39 ERA across 7 2/3 innings (sic appearances) for the Angels. He’ll operate in middle relief situations and can be safely ignored in all fantasy formats.

The runs all came in the second, which started with a walk and two singles. The big hit afterwards was a weak fly to shallow center that a better center fielder than Oneil Cruz would have caught. That was followed by an awful decision from Nick Gonzales to try for an out at home rather than take an easy out at first on a grounder from Sal Frelick. Skenes gave up one more run afterwards on another single. It was a disappointing outcome for the anticipated matchup with Jacob Misiorowski, but Skenes threw just fine; he kept the Brewers hitless the other three innings and he wound up with a 33% CSW. The loss leaves him 4-7 with a 2.12 ERA ahead of a start against the Cardinals next week.

There were indications last night that Cruz might not play today after being pulled for forgetting how many outs there were last night, but while he did start, he was dropped in the lineup. He finished the day without a hard-hit ball, though he did reach on an Isaac Collins error on a fly to left. It could have been ruled a double, but not today.
