Súarez gave up all three of his runs in the second inning, and two of them were unearned because of an error by JT Realmuto. The 29-year-old did deal with some traffic as seen in three free passes and five hits allowed, but after the second frame the left-hander was excellent. Súarez will take an outstanding 1.94 ERA and 78/22 K/BB ratio into the second half, and he should be one of the first starters for the Phillies after the break.

Schwarber is now up to 30 homers on the season, and that’s the fifth consecutive season the 32-year-old has reached that mark. He’s now also driven in 69 runs, and a homer and along with a walk has his OPS up to .944. Schwarber should remain as consistent of power threat as there is in the sport, because that’s what he’s done since the start of the decade.

Although he was pitching for the first time in eight days, Abel was very sharp and needed just 64 pitches to get 18 outs. He walked only one, which was a nice turnaround from some of his recent major league outings.

Bickford heads to Triple-A Lehigh Valley as extra organizational relief depth for Philadelphia after being released last week by the Cubs following a couple months in their system. The 29-year-old former first-round pick has made 187 relief appearances in the big leagues dating back to the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign. He got into eight games last year for the Yankees.
