That operation will likely cost Crawford the remainder of the 2025 season, according to Cora. The right-hander also dealt with a knee issue earlier in the campaign, but it’s the wrist operation that will all but assuredly cost him the remainder of this year. Crawford will battle for a starting gig in 2026, assuming he’s ready to roll when that season begins.

Slaten is dealing with a nerve-related issue in his neck, which led to shoulder inflammation, and remains completely shut down. It certainly sounds like he won’t be an option for Boston’s relief mix until the later stages of the second half.

That would mean that the earliest we likely will see Bregman back in the lineup for Boston and fantasy lineups is July 18. The 31-year-old has already missed a month with his quad injury, but Boston isn’t going to rush the infielder back to the lineup and risk a potential aggravation. He’ll almost assuredly need a rehab assignment, and that would likely begin in the middle of July if a return right after the break is the goal.

Anthony will take a seat with southpaw Yusei Kikuchi on the mound. The Red Sox are loading up on right-handers against Kikuchi with Anthony, David Hamilton and Abraham Toro out of the lineup and Romy Gonzalez along with Nate Eaton and Rob Refsnyder taking their place.
