Lewis was just activated off the injured list, and the Twins are going to give him days off to try and make sure that his hamstring strain doesn’t become a recurring issue. He’ll take a break with Harrison Bader back in the lineup and Willi Castro moving to third base.

Funderburk will get a chance to pitch for Minnesota for the first time since being demoted to Triple-A St. Paul. The 28-year-old takes the roster spot of Bailey Ober after Ober was placed on the injured list, but Funderburk’s role will assuredly be in the bullpen.

Ober has been shelled in his last few outings, and it’s possible the hip was a major culprit. He’ll be out through at least the All-Star break, but it seems likely he’ll need a rehab assignment and then return to the rotation at some point near the end of July — assuming no setbacks, of course.

Just gotta be a little better than that, Joe. It was a Kyle Stowers homer in the second that did the only damage. Ryan matched his season low with four strikeouts, but he went without walking a batter for the sixth time in 17 starts. He’ll next face the Rays on Sunday.

Raleigh takes a seat for just the third time this season as Seattle attempts to manage his workload amid an extended stretch without any off days built into the schedule. It’ll be Mitch Garver handling the catching duties with Jorge Polanco at DH on Wednesday night. The 28-year-old slugging backstop has put together arguably the greatest first-half performance by a catcher in fantasy baseball history with a major league-leading 33 home runs, 71 RBI and nine stolen bases through 84 games. He’s definitely earned a break.

It’s merely a procedural move since Alvarez has already missed two months due to a chip fracture in his right hand. The 28-year-old slugger is eligible to be activated at any point in the future. However, that won’t be any time soon since he was shut down on Monday after experiencing renewed hand soreness while taking dry swings. He’s scheduled visit a specialist later this week to determine the next steps in his recovery process. The hope for fantasy managers at this juncture is that he doesn’t wind up needing surgery, which would likely be season-ending.

Malloy provides Detroit with some extra right-handed pop for the second contest of Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Padres. The 25-year-old has posted a respectable .638 OPS with one homer and 16 RBI across 45 games this season in the big leagues.
