Not terribly surprising that the Twins are going to want to get imaging done to determine the extent of the hamstring strain that the 26-year-old infielder suffered on Friday night. Lewis, who spends more time on the injured list than he does in the Twins’ lineup, could be heading for a return trip back there before the weekend is through.

Buxton told reporters after the game that he “didn’t feel good” but believes he avoided a long-term injury. The contusion occurred when he was plunked by a pitch, and while he stayed in the game initially, he was unable to continue. Buxton may get Sunday off, but should be back in the lineup in the coming days.

Both Hunter Brown and Ryan pitched seven innings of two-run ball, with the runs coming on two-run homers that were hit 339 and 345 feet respectively. In another ballpark, they probably both would have turned in scoreless outings. Ryan allowed just one hit besides the homer and struck out seven. He’ll likely make his next start at home against the Brewers.

It was 11-0 until; the ninth, when the Dodgers tried to save a little wear on their pitchers by putting in Enrique Hernández for the final inning. Hernández, though, gave up a grand slam and five runs while getting two outs, and Anthony Banda ended up finishing the game. Ohtani has 25 homers this year, leaving him one behind Aaron Judge and Cal Raleigh for the MLB lead. He’s up to 250 career homers in 929 games since debuting in 2018.

The homer off Matthew Boyd, which produced the only run of the game for the hapless Pirates, was McCutchen’s 326th of his career, moving him past Willie Horton, Jermaine Dye and Justin Upton for 127th place all-time. Next up are Shawn Green and Mo Vaughn at 328.
