Gray has been awesome for the most part, but his four bad outings have seen him give up five, six (four earned), seven and six runs, giving him a middling 3.84 ERA. The loss tonight leaves him 7-2 on the year. He figures to fare much better against the White Sox next week.

Fedde allowed just four hits and a walk, and he struck out five. This is not a terrible line, but the 32-year-old was better than it indicates for most of the start. He gave up just one run over the first five frames before a pair were charged to him in the sixth. Unfortunately, the Cardinals couldn’t solve Freddy Peralta, so it’s another loss for Fedde; dropping him to 3-6 on the season. He gets a very friendly matchup on paper next week against his former team in the White Sox.

It’s the third straight game that the versatile 28-year-old has missed due to a sprained capsule in the joint of his left big toe. Donovan is wearing a carbon fiber orthotic to help lessen the pressure on his toe and he was able to take batting practice on Friday. He’ll repeat the process again on Saturday, after which a determination may be made on his status. It’s possible he misses the entire weekend series so fantasy managers shouldn’t be relying on him if they have viable alternatives.

Walker started in right field, but he got to play only three innings there before the game was delayed and then suspended due to rain. He’ll presumably play for Memphis again tonight, but it should be a rather short rehab assignment for Walker, who has been on the IL since May 31 with wrist inflammation.
