This was scary. Thornton looked exhausted after issuing a walk to Ian Happ in the eighth inning, and nearly stumbled over and had to be visited by an EMT during the visit. He’s been replaced by Casey Legumina. The guess is that this is heat exhaustion, but more details should be provided shortly.

Raleigh got on the board with his first hit of the game in the ninth, taking Daniel Palencia deep for a solo homer. It was Raleigh’s 30th home run of the season as he becomes the first player in the majors to reach 30, all before the All-Star break. The 28-year-old backstop is on a ridiculous pace, hitting .272/.377/.649 with 52 runs scored, 64 RBI, and nine steals across 324 plate appearances.

Hancock had a forgettable outing at Wrigley Field on Saturday. Ian Happ and Kyle Tucker took him deep for a pair of solo homers in the first inning. Chicago would bring four more runs in to score in the second, including two on a second homer by Happ. Michael Busch would make it nine runs with a three-run blast in the third. Hancock would hang in for one more inning before ending his day. He struck out five. The 26-year-old right-hander sees his ERA balloon to 5.43 with a 1.43 WHIP and a 50/24 K/BB ratio across 66 1/3 innings. He’ll take on the Twins in Minnesota on Thursday.

Raley came off the bench and went 1-for-3 with a double during Friday’s series opener against the Cubs at Wrigley Field just a few hours after being activated from the injured list. The 30-year-old corner outfielder wound up missing nearly two months with a right oblique strain. He’ll factor into Seattle’s right field mix and could also spend some time at first base with Rowdy Tellez gone from the picture.
