The 35-year-old right-hander was activated from the 60-day IL earlier in the week and designated for assignment. He passed through waivers unclaimed and chose to accept the outright assignment to Triple-A to remain in the Twins’ organization. He’ll continue to round back into shape following a right shoulder strain at the Triple-A level.

Lewis was lifted for a pinch runner after smacking a single in the ninth inning on Friday night. He finished 2-for-4 with a solo homer before departing. Twins manager Rocco Baldelli told reporters that Lewis tested out well after the game, but he’ll be re-evaluated by the training staff again on Saturday morning before a determination is made on his status. Given his extensive injury history, it wouldn’t be surprising to see this lead to another trip to the injured list. All fantasy managers can do now is wait and hope for the best.
