Anderson struck out two and walked two while allowing three extra base hits and posting a 23 percent whiff rate and 23 percent CSW. He doesn’t miss a lot of bats, which always makes him a risky start, especially against an Arizona lineup that has both Corbin Carroll and Josh Naylor back and healthy.

Trout started the game with a solo shot off of Kevin Gausman in the first inning, but he went quiet from there. The 33-year-old has 14 home runs and 32 RBI on the season and is coming off a solid month of June in a revitalized Angels lineup. He remains a must-start player in fantasy leagues.

All of Ward’s hits were singles, and none of them left the bat harder than 91 mph, but they count all the same in the scorebook. Ward had a rough month of June, hitting .204/.312/.430, but he has come out of the gates hot in July, going 9-for-23 in his first six games. Perhaps his bat is waking up with the California heat.

He struck out one and walked two. This breaks up a streak of Kochanowicz allowing two or four runs in eight straight starts (four runs five times, two runs three times). So, he’s keeping the Angels in games, but that’s really the best that can be said for Kochanowicz’s performance. He’s 3-8 with a 5.42 ERA on the year, and he hasn’t finished six innings and posted a quality start since May 16. The Angels are going to have to try something different at some point, but it probably won’t be before the break. He’s due to face the Rangers on Thursday.
