Freeman is back atop Colorado’s lineup on Monday night at historic Fenway Park following a brief one-game absence due to right hamstring soreness. The 26-year-old outfielder told reporters over the weekend that he’s been dealing with the issue for a while at this juncture, so fantasy managers shouldn’t anticipate him missing a ton of additional time, if any, leading into the All-Star break.

Gomber’s velocity has been down in five starts since returning from shoulder inflammation, but it was a little better tonight; he averaged 89.5 mph with his fastball, down from 90.5 mph last year. That helped him pick up five strikeouts and 11 missed swings. That might not sound like much, but he came into the night with a total of six strikeouts in 19 2/3 innings. He’ll take a 5.92 ERA into his next start against the Reds.

Fernández has been on the bench for both games against lefties since he arrived in the majors, and his five starts have seen him twice be hit for by Kyle Farmer with a lefty on the mound. That would all make sense if he were playing for a contender and major league ready aside from being able to hit lefties, but Fernández is 22, clearly not a finished product and playing for one of the worst teams of all-time. He needs to be allowed to try to improve against lefties, whether it’s in Triple-A or in the majors.

Doyle returns to center field on Monday night in Boston after receiving a three-game mental break to attempt to clear his head and work on adjustments. The 27-year-old outfielder is hitting just .206/.256/.336 with seven homers and nine steals through 76 games this season on the heels of last year’s impressive 23-homer, 30-steal breakthrough campaign.

With Kristian Campbell out of the way, Hamilton should offer mixed-league value for at least a couple of weeks here, at least until Alex Bregman returns and probably shoves Marcelo Mayer to second base. The homer tonight was Hamilton’s third of the season.

This was a 1-1 game through six before the Red Sox scored twice in the seventh and three times in the eighth. Hamilton, who just 3-for-33 coming in, doubled his season hit total tonight. Triston Casas’s injury doesn’t figure to benefit Hamilton overly much, so he can be left on the waiver wire in spite of his stolen base ability.

Kristian Campbell will shift to center field, and Ceddanne Rafaela will take a seat on the bench. Rafaela is hitting .231/.302/.385 with four steals and a 12:2 K:BB ratio over his last 12 games, but Hamilton has not been playing well enough to be a real threat to his playing time. The bigger threat would be the Red Sox calling up Roman Anthony and moving Jarren Duran to center field.
