    Orlando Arcia

    Orlando Arcia

    Recap

Orlando Arcia blasted a game-tying solo home run with two outs in the ninth inning on Sunday, helping to lead the Rockies to a come-from-behind 4-3 victory over the Brewers in 11 innings.

Trevor Megill had recorded the first two outs in the ninth inning without issue as Arcia strolled to the dish representing the Rockies’ final hope while trailing by one run. After taking a knuckle curve for a strike to start the at-bat, Megill doubled up on the pitch and Arcia crushed a 386-foot solo shot to left center that tied the game at 2-2. That would be Arcia’s only hit in four at-bats on the day. For the season, the 30-year-old infielder is slashing just .196/.228/.299 with two homers and six RBI, so this will be a season highlight for him for sure.

    Recap

Tyler Kinley notched his third save of the season on Sunday afternoon, working a scoreless 11th inning to protect a one-run advantage against the Brewers.

Seth Halvorsen and Victor Vodnik had already worked in the ninth and tenth innings respectively on Sunday, which left Kinley to handle the 11th with a one-run lead after the Rockies scored in the top half of the frame. He made sure that it stood up, getting Jake Bauers and Isaac Collins on called third strikes before retiring Caleb Durbin on a fly ball to left field to end it. He’s still third or fourth in the pecking order for save chances in the Rockies’ bullpen, but it’s nice to step up and show you’re capable when your number is called.

Germán Márquez pitched well in a no-decision against the Brewers on Sunday afternoon, surrendering just two runs on three hits over 5 2/3 innings of work.

The 30-year-old right-hander struck out five batters on the afternoon while issuing three free passes. He kept the Brewers off the board completely through the first five innings, where he was locked in a scoreless pitcher’s duel with Brewers right-hander Chad Patrick. He served up a pair of solo homers before being chased in the sixth though — to Sal Frelick and Christian Yelich. Márquez got seven whiffs on 103 pitches on the day, registering a CSW of 21 percent. He’ll carry an uninspiring 5.62 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and a 61/27 K/BB ratio (83 1/3 innings) into Saturday’s matchup against the White Sox.

David Hamilton went 2-for-4 and hit a two-run homer against the Giants on Friday.

With Kristian Campbell out of the way, Hamilton should offer mixed-league value for at least a couple of weeks here, at least until Alex Bregman returns and probably shoves Marcelo Mayer to second base. The homer tonight was Hamilton’s third of the season.

    Recap

David Hamilton went 3-for-4 with a double, two steals and two runs scored in Boston’s 6-1 takedown of the Twins on Friday.

This was a 1-1 game through six before the Red Sox scored twice in the seventh and three times in the eighth. Hamilton, who just 3-for-33 coming in, doubled his season hit total tonight. Triston Casas’s injury doesn’t figure to benefit Hamilton overly much, so he can be left on the waiver wire in spite of his stolen base ability.

David Hamilton is starting at second base and batting eighth for the Red Sox on Thursday against the Mariners.

Kristian Campbell will shift to center field, and Ceddanne Rafaela will take a seat on the bench. Rafaela is hitting .231/.302/.385 with four steals and a 12:2 K:BB ratio over his last 12 games, but Hamilton has not been playing well enough to be a real threat to his playing time. The bigger threat would be the Red Sox calling up Roman Anthony and moving Jarren Duran to center field.
