Abreu heads to the bench with top prospect Roman Anthony getting the opportunity to face Nationals lefty Shinnosuke Ogasawara in the southpaw’s big-league debut. It’s notable that Marcelo Mayer is also on the bench in this one with Nate Eaton getting another chance at the hot corner and leading off for the second straight contest.

With Aroldis Chapman used in the eighth inning to face James Wood, it was Hicks who was given a three-run lead in the ninth inning on Sunday. The outing was not without its concerns. Josh Bell scorched a 107.6 mph lineout to start the inning, and then Brady House walked. Hicks was able to strike out Riley Adams, but a wild pitch moved House to second and a single from Daylen Lile drove in a run and brought CJ Abrams to the plate as the tying run. Hicks was able to get Abrams to fly out, but the reliever was averaging just 96.8 mph on his sinker, which is down from where he normally sits as a reliever. He also threw five sliders, but none of them were in the strike zone. The role here seems great for Hicks, but we have to hope that he’s healthy enough to take advantage of it.

Story is now up to 14 home runs and 53 RBI on the season. After there were some calls to designate him for assignment earlier in the season to make room for Marcelo Mayer, Story has been red hot in Boston. Over his last 35 games, he’s hitting .301/.336/.519 with eight home runs, 23 runs scored, 32 RBI, and five steals. That’s valuable in all league types.

There is a legitimate All-Star case to be made for Rafaela. The 24-year-old came into today 10th in the entire American League in WAR thanks to his elite defense in center field, to go along with, now, 11 home runs, 38 RBI, and 11 steals. Much like last year, Rafaela started slowly, but he’s slashing .281/.316/.501 in 58 games since May 1st with nine home runs, 33 runs scored, 23 RBI, and four steals. His defense will keep him in the lineup, but his bat is valuable in fantasy as well.

Judge’s home run was No. 33 for him on the year. The 33-year-old outfielder crushed a two-run home run in the fifth inning off Brandon Waddell to put the Yankees up 5-0. Judge suffered a cut near his eye on Saturday after he was hit in the face by a throw from Anthony Volpe between innings, but showed no ill effects Sunday. He’s hitting .360 with a 1.202 OPS and 74 RBI on the year as he goes for his third American League Most Valuable Player award.

Hernández is out of the lineup for Sunday’s series finale and could wind up requiring some additional time off, even if he checks out completely fine. It’ll be speedster Estuery Ruiz patrolling right field and batting ninth on Sunday against the Astros in his absence. There should be a definitive update on the 32-year-old slugging corner outfielder’s status leading into Monday’s series opener in Milwaukee.
