It’s a massive relief for the Angels and fantasy managers as Neto will likely avoid a trip to the injured list after jamming his right shoulder on a stolen base attempt during Tuesday’s game against the Red Sox. The 24-year-old shortstop could potentially be ready to return for Friday’s series opener against the Nationals.

It’s the second straight game that Neto has missed since jamming his shoulder while attempting to steal a base during Tuesday’s ballgame. Fortunately, an MRI exam revealed no structural damage and the 24-year-old shortstop is still considered day-to-day. Kevin Newman will start in his place on Friday night and bat ninth against Jake Irvin and the Nationals.

Ray Montgomery will continue to function as the team’s manager in Washington’s stead while Ryan Goins will serve as the team’s bench coach. We continue to wish the Angels’ skipper the best in whatever it is that he’s going through and hope to see him back on the diamond as soon as possible.

The 31-year-old was away from the team for a couple of days as he welcomed a new addition to the family. He returns to an underwhelming .195/.205/.221 slash line with zero homers, four RBI and one stolen base through his first 79 plate appearances with the Halos. Kyren Paris was optioned back to Triple-A Salt Lake in a corresponding move.

Lawlar is one of the game’s very best prospects, but his frequent injuries are a cause for concern. If he can stay healthy, he could have some mixed-league value over the final two months should the Diamondbacks opt to sell and trade Eugenio Suárez.

The Reds were stifled by Max Fried in this one. De La Cruz accounted for two of their three hits and scored their only run on a throwing error by Jazz Chisholm. He’s turned a serious corner over the last month with a .336/.409/.699 slash line in his last 30 games.
