RecapJalen Johnson amassed a game-high 30 points (11-of-17 FGs, 8-of-10 FTs), seven rebounds, six assists and one steal over 36 minutes, powering the Hawks to a 124-121 win over the Nets on Saturday.
Johnson didn’t show any signs of rust, reclaiming his role as Atlanta’s primary offensive catalyst, in his return after missing three games with a sprained ankle. The 24-year-old rising star reached the 30-point plateau for the first time this season despite going 0-for-5 from three-point range. It’s too early to draw any firm conclusions, but he appears to be sustaining last year’s increase in the scoring department, while providing his usual all-around fantasy production, averaging 19.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, 7.6 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.6 blocks through eight games this season. The Hawks are in line for a three-game week that includes favorable matchups against the Lakers, Bulls and Bucks.
