The expectation for NBA rotation players, especially ones that are 24 years old, is that they will dominate Summer League. That wasn’t the case for Knecht in his first game of the summer. The defensive stats were good to see, but he should be dominating as a scorer. There’s no need to panic after one game, but he needs to play better and really prove that he should be in the rotation next year.

Inactive for the Lakers’ first game of the summer on Saturday, James was available and in the starting lineup on Sunday. He only played 11 minutes, but the Lakers guard knocked down two corner threes and opened the action with a breakaway dunk. Expecting Bronny to earn consistent rotation minutes next season may be a bit ambitious, but this is an important summer for him after playing sparingly as a rookie.

Hayes appeared in 56 games for the Lakers last season, making 35 starts. However, his role will be different in 2025-26, as Deandre Ayton has agreed to a two-year deal and will be the starting center. Hayes finished last season with averages of 6.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 0.9 blocks on 19.5 minutes per game. He did not provide consistent fantasy value as a starter, which should remain the case now that Hayes will be coming off the bench.

Williams was solid in his first game of Summer League, and he was even better on Monday. The 2024 lottery pick had an atrocious rookie season but was always considered a developmental project. While we may not see him take a giant leap this year, the fact that he is producing well in Summer League is encouraging. He should be better than most of his competition, and he’s playing like it.

Once again, there weren’t really any answers for Sensabaugh in this game. He has 56 points and 11 threes through two Summer League games, and he got to the free throw line at will on Monday. It likely won’t be long before the 2023 first-round pick is asked to sit out the rest of Summer League. He has been that dominant. Sensabaugh should play a large role for Utah this season.
