The Knicks are one of several teams expected to be interested in Westbrook. The 36-year-old point guard had a bounce back season with the Nuggets averaging 13.3 points per game, 4.9 rebounds per game and 6.1 assists per game. The Knicks have the $5 million tax-payer exception and the veteran’s minimum exception to offer free agents.

One day after it was reported the Nuggets would not retain Trey Alexander, they will reportedly use Summer League to evaluate another guard with prior NBA experience. Beekman began last season with the Warriors before being traded to Brooklyn as part of the Dennis Schröder transaction in mid-December. The former Virginia standout appeared in 34 games for the Nets, averaging 2.7 points, 1.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 0.9 steals in 13.7 minutes.

Not selected in the 2024 NBA Draft, Alexander signed a two-way contract with the Nuggets last July. The former Creighton guard only appeared in 24 regular-season games for Denver, but he made his mark in the G League. Alexander averaged 25.8 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 1.7 steals per game for the Nuggets’ G League affiliate, earning league Rookie of the Year honors. His expected departure will not impact Denver from a fantasy basketball standpoint.

After serving as a reserve during his two seasons at Indiana, Bates transferred to Missouri ahead of the 2023-24 campaign. A more prominent role awaited him in Columbia, and the 6-foot-5 wing took advantage. As a senior, Bates averaged 13.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.5 three-pointers per game, shooting 50.8 percent from the field and 94.6 percent from the foul line. Making 39.7 percent of his three-point attempts, the former Mizzou standout was nearly a 50/40/90 player. While Bates is not much of a playmaker for others, he has the potential to provide solid 3-and-D value as a pro. He’ll develop within Denver’s system as a two-way contract player.

Like Jeff Green, Holiday will return to the Rockets on the veteran’s minimum next season. He appeared in 62 games in 2024-25, averaging 5.5 points, 1.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.2 three-pointers in 12.8 minutes. With Fred VanVleet expected to return and Amen Thompson capable of taking on primary playmaker responsibilities, Holiday’s role will again be limited in 2025-26.

Clarkson was recently bought out of his contract by the Jazz. The 33-year-old point guard isn’t the only big name veteran with interest in the Knicks as Russell Westbrook is also reportedly interested in joining the team that’s been in the Eastern Conference finals each of the last two years. While neither Westbrook nor Clarkson project for fantasy-relevant roles with the Knicks, both are ideal additions for the veteran minimum.

No surprises with this move, as Utah continues to move backcourt pieces to promote the development of guys like Isaiah Collier, Keyonte George and rookie Walter Clayton Jr. Clarkson averaged 17.7 points and 2.4 triples across five full seasons with Utah, and he can offer microwave scoring to contending teams.
