Signed to a two-way contract by the Lakers after the February trade deadline, Goodwin played well enough to be converted to a standard deal in late March. While his contract for the 2025-26 season is worth $2.3 million, it is only lightly guaranteed. Goodwin’s deal becomes fully guaranteed on January 10, 2026, if he’s still on the roster. He did have his moments as a streamer last season, but Goodwin is not a player likely to be drafted in most fantasy leagues.

If activated, Finney-Smith’s option would have paid him $15.4 million next season. Instead, he’ll hit the open market and should not lack suitors among teams with serious postseason ambitions. According to Charania, a return to the Lakers is not off the table for Finney-Smith despite Sunday’s development. DFS appeared in 63 games for the Nets and Lakers last season, with the latter acquiring him from the former in late December. Finney-Smith underwent ankle surgery in mid-June, but he is expected to be available for the start of training camp.

Sunday was deadline day for James, who had a player option worth $52.6 million for the 2025-26 campaign. He’s reportedly decided to pick up the option, meaning LeBron will be back for a 23rd NBA season. However, based on agent Rich Paul’s comments, there are questions regarding James’ future with the Lakers despite the player making it clear in the past that he hopes to remain with the franchise. James suffered a Grade 2 MCL sprain during the Lakers’ first-round series against Minnesota, but the expectation is that James will be good to go well ahead of training camp. Based on his Yahoo! ADP, James was expected to provide second-round value in standard leagues last season, and he met that expectation. Look for him to have a similar draft position even though he’ll turn 41 in December.

Dixon is another 24-year-old draft prospect with five seasons under his belt. The 6’8, 259 pound forward was named Mr. Pennsylvania Basketball in 2019 before starting his collegiate journey. He ended his final season as the 2024-25 NCAA scoring champ while posting 23.3 points per game. Dixon has strong handles and the ability to pass, drive and hit a midrange jumper. He could be a microwave scorer at the next level. Dixon has the potential to be a solid reserve floor spacer for the Lakers from day one.

Harden held a player option worth a little over $36.3 million for the 2025-26 season. His decision to opt out and agree to a new deal gives the Clippers added financial flexibility, as the second year is a partially guaranteed player option. Returning to Los Angeles has given Harden’s career a needed boost after disappointing stints with the Nets and 76ers. “The Beard” finished last season as a top-10 player in eight-cat formats and top-15 in nine-cat. Given his importance to the Clippers, Harden should again be an early-round pick in fantasy drafts.

Not long after deciding to decline Mitchell’s team option, the Thunder have secured his immediate future in Oklahoma City. The 38th overall pick in the 2024 draft, Mitchell averaged 6.5 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists in his 36 appearances. A toe injury suffered on January 3 sidelined him for over three months. Mitchell does not offer much fantasy value in his role, but he’ll provide additional depth off the Thunder bench.

After three seasons in Utah, Sexton is on the move, with the Jazz sending him and a future draft pick to Charlotte. The scoring guard appeared in 63 games last season, averaging 18.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 0.7 steals and 1.7 three-pointers in 27.9 minutes. Primarily a points and assists option, Sexton finished the season ranked outside the top 150 in nine-cat formats. With Utah’s point guard including Keyonte George, Isaiah Collier and first-round pick Walter Clayton Jr., Sexton being moved is unsurprising. His value in Charlotte may be limited, but there could be opportunities to provide value due to LaMelo Ball’s injury history.
