Lerner said that Sheppard is participating to help him prepare to play a larger role in his second season. After Houston selected him with the No. 3 pick in 2024, Sheppard played just 12.6 minutes per game across his 52 appearances, though all signs point to Sheppard playing more in year two. How well he performs in Summer League should be a solid indicator of how much he will play for the Rockets next season, though the other moves this team could make will also open up minutes for him.

Rather than test free agency, Adams agreed to three-year extension to stay with the Rockets. Houston already has Alperen Sengun as the starter, but Adams was a key player in Houston’s rotation down the stretch of the season as he usurped Jock Landale as the primary backup center. Adams isn’t much of a scorer at this point of his career, but averaged 15.8 minutes per game and 6.3 rebounds per game in the second half of the season.

Since firing Tom Thibodeau, the Knicks have reportedly been interested in speaking with three sitting head coaches regarding their opening: Udoka, Minnesota’s Chris Finch and Dallas’s Jason Kidd. While New York reportedly has not formally requested permission to speak with Kidd, they did take that step with Udoka and Finch. According to Charania, Houston and Minnesota denied those requests. In Udoka’s case, he isn’t believed to have much interest in leaving the Rockets, who earned the two-seed in the West this season and have a young, developing roster to work with.

Brooks crashed back to earth after scoring 24 points in Game 5, totaling 11 points on 4-of-14 shooting. He’s been more valuable to the Rockets as a defender and veteran presence, hence his low Yahoo! ADP of 139. At best, Brooks will likely remain a late-round pick in standard leagues, while managers in 10-team formats can afford to leave him alone in drafts next fall.

Boston Jr. missed the final two months of the season and will miss at least three more after undergoing surgery. Boston Jr. played well for New Orleans in an expanded role due to injuries on the wing, and he was converted from a two-way deal to a standard contract in February. He has yet to play a game on this new deal, but based on this timeline, he should be ready well before training camp starts next season.

Williams was a bright spot for Dallas in what was mostly an abysmal performance for the team in their play-in loss. After scoring 17 points against the Kings on Wednesday, Williams was once again able to help the Mavs in the scoring department. The 25-year-old point guard only became part of the rotation after multiple injuries in front of him, but he took advantage of the opportunity. His role will be limited with Kyrie Irving healthy to start next season, but Williams is an intriguing player to keep an eye on in dynasty formats.

Thompson’s play-in performance this season was significantly better than it was last season. It wasn’t enough to get the Mavericks to the postseason in his first year with the team, but it was good to see Klay play well. His first season in Dallas likely wasn’t as expected, and his numbers dropped off from his final year with the Warriors. However, he was also expecting to play with Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving in the postseason. Thompson is still one of the best shooters in the league, and Dallas should be more dangerous next season when they are fully healthy. That should help Klay be more productive.
