This doesnât come as much of a surprise, as Reddick has failed to report to training camp while seeking out a new contract. Officially considered a holdout, Reddick has been hoping for a new deal dating back to his time with the Eagles. The Jets acquired him with a third-round pick earlier this offseason but have been unwilling to meet his contractual demands despite giving up a pick to acquire the veteran pass-rusher. Reddick, 29, has totaled 38 sacks over the last three years and is among the leagueâs top pass rushers. Contact between Reddick and the Jets has reportedly been limited, and The Athleticâs Zack Rosenblatt reported earlier this offseason that a new deal is âunlikelyâ to be reached before the start of the season. The Jets acquired Reddick, knowing his desire for a new contract. The fact theyâve done little to sign him to an extension despite trading for him remains one of the more puzzling decisions weâve seen by a team this offseason.
