Black (6’6/336) spent five years shuffling through the Iowa defensive line rotation as a super-heavyweight lane clogger operating out of the B-gap the majority of the time. He developed into an exceptional run stopper during his time in Iowa City, tabulating 58 stops over the last two seasons with a sparkling 9.4% missed tackle rate. Black earned a commendable 81.0 run defense grade and graded out positively on 22.6% of his run snaps last season. His gargantuan size drags down his effectiveness on the pass rush and in testing, as he ran a sluggish 5.39s 40-yard dash (15th%) to go with a 1.88s 10-yard split (12th%) and 25” vertical (21st%) for a lowly 3.61 RAS. Black has potential as an early down and short yardage specialist, but his ceiling is likely capped to sub packages.
