Ryland attempted and converted a season-high six field goals today, including two between the 20-29-yard lines, three between the 30-39-yard lines and one from 40-plus. He’s attempted fewer than three field goals in 3-of-6 games thus far, and coach Mike LaFleur said post-game that he “never” wants to see Ryland attempt six kicks again, unless they are extra points. Ryland should probably not be counted on for high-end K1 results next week against the Broncos.
Ryland has spent the last two seasons with the Cardinals, converting on 81.5 percent of his field goal attempts over that span while going 10-of-14 from 50-plus yards. The 26-year-old kicker was 6-of-10 from that distance in 2025 and also made all 36 of his extra point attempts. The decision to bring back Ryland was a no-brainer for head coach Mike LaFleur, although he’ll likely face competition for the kicking job after the Cards brough in Josh Karty last December.
Ryland has now missed one field goal in four straight games. On the season he has missed six of his 25 field goal tries while making all 29 of his extra points. Attached to an Arizona offense that rarely has the benefit of neutral and positive game script — allowing for field goal attempts throughout the game — Ryland is not a reliable fantasy play. He should not be rostered in Week 15 against Houston.
