He didn’t practice all week after spending Sunday night in a Dallas hospital following an “internal injury” he suffered against the Cowboys. Sounds ominous. We’d be unsurprised if Cross were placed on injured reserve on Saturday.
Quinn didn’t disclose any specifics about Cross’ injury, but he did share that Cross was discharged from the hospital on Monday and is making his way back to the team. We’ll see if Cross is able to get on the practice field this week, but the Commanders could be looking at yet another key player being sidelined for Week 3’s game against a Seahawks team that is off to a 2-0 start.
Cross has played nearly 2,300 snaps over the past two years for the Colts, mostly as a box safety, with good run defense returns. The coverage ability came and went in 2025, as evidenced by a 50.4 PFF coverage grade. This contract outlay probably locks him into one starting spot in Washington’s safety room.
