98.5 The Sports Hub’s Alex Barth reports Patriots WR Javon Baker “seems to have fallen out of the top wide receiver rotation.”

Baker was selected in the fourth round of this year’s draft by the Patriots and most recently was playing with deep reserves in the preseason. Barth notes that “based on his practice reps it doesn’t look like he’ll have a big role in the offense once the season starts.” As a day three wideout, it’s not entirely surprising that Baker is headed for a deep reserve role his rookie year. However, with a shallow Patriots receiving group, fantasy managers were at least hoping to see some production this season. Instead, it looks like Baker will operate behind second-rounder Ja’Lynn Polk, DeMario Douglas, and the rest of the Patriots starting group, making him more of a long-term, Dynasty investment as of now.
