Kliff Kingsbury

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport called Kliff Kingsbury “an interesting name to watch” for the Bears’ head coaching vacancy.

Rapoport noted that GM Ryan Poles is expected to keep his job as the Bears look to replace Matt Eberflus. Interim head coach Thomas Brown will get an interview as well, though the Bears will likely look toward a full reset instead of staying in-house. Rapoport mentioned Lions coordinators Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn plus former Titans head coach Mike Vrabel as potential candidates as well. Those will be the usual suspects for head coaching gigs this offseason, so Rapoport isn’t breaking ground here. Kingsbury is currently rehabbing his image as the offensive coordinator for Jayden Daniels, who remains the favorite to win offensive rookie of the year, though his lead has been slipping for a few weeks. Caleb Williams excelled with Kingsbury as his coordinator at USC and has plenty of head coaching experience dating back to his time with the Cardinals. While he’s not the most exciting candidate in the pool, the dots are there for connecting with Kliff and Chicago.
