Russell Wilson

Russell Wilson

PITQB • #3

Steelers HC Mike Tomlin announced that Russell Wilson will open the season as the starting quarterback.

Not a huge surprise; especially after Wilson played just one series in the preseason finale against the Lions. Tomlin did suggest that Justin Fields could see the field in certain packages and are “open to weaponizing” Fields’ athleticism, but it’s Wilson’s job. The 35-year-old has been inconsistent at best since being traded away from Seattle, but will hope to rectify his career. The question now is how long of a leash Wilson has with Fields available at the ready.
