The Athletic’s Joe Buscaglia reports RB James Cook has had ball security issues during training camp.

Cook fumbled thrice on Wednesday as defenders slapped and jabbed at the football near the end of runs, according to Buscaglia, adding Cook remains Buffalo’s lead back headed into the season. “Should it carry into the regular season, these moments from camp could stay in the back of the coaches’ heads and eventually impact playing time,” he said. “But we’re far away from that happening.” Cook in 2023 had four fumbles on 237 carries. Continued struggles with ball security could give rookie Ray Davis a chance for more playing time and early-down work.
