The Athletic’s Tashan Reed reports Raiders DT Christian Wilkins (foot) “was placed back in a boot” earlier this offseason.
The Raiders have been quiet about Wilkins and his recovery, but according to Reed, the veteran lineman shed his walking boot by the end of last season only to be placed back in the boot and to later shed it by OTAs. Reed notes that “the back-and-forth has raised questions about [Wilkins’] recovery process,” but adds that what he’s able to do at practice will provide more clarity on where he may be at this time in his recovery. Wilkins signed a four-year, $110 million contract with the Raiders last offseason but only appeared in five games before going down. In those games he tallied 17 tackles, two sacks and two TFLs. The Raiders are counting on Wilkins’ being healthy next season as they look to improve on a disappointing 2024 season that saw them go 4-13 while ranking 25th in points allowed.
