Enns missed the final weekend of the regular season on paternity leave. The 34-year-old lefty finished the year with a solid 4.08 ERA and 49/15 K/BB ratio across 46 1/3 innings over 24 appearances split between the Tigers and Orioles.

Rodriguez had surgery to remove a bone spur from his elbow back on August 11th. He will begin a throwing program in October, and Elias feels confident that Rodriguez will be ready for spring training. However, it is curious that Elias also said the team is looking to add a “top of the rotation” starter to pair with Kyle Bradish and Trevor Rogers, but did not mention Rodriguez. Perhaps it was just a slip, or perhaps Rodriguez has work to do to show the organization that he can be counted on as a crucial starter for them.

There were some questions about whether or not the Orioles were looking to turn things over to top prospect Samuel Basallo after Rutschman had a disappointing 2025 season, but that does not appear to be the case. Elias did imply that there is room for the team to have two good catchers, which means both Rutschman and Basallo should see regular playing time behind the dish. If the Orioles also move on from Ryan Mountcastle, then there could be additional at-bats at first base and/or designated hitter for Basallo in 2026.

Kjerstad refused to expound upon what type of condition Kjerstad is dealing with, but said that “Kjerstad will be in Spring Training.” It’s hard to know for sure how long the 26-year-old outfielder was battling whatever condition he’s battling, but it would be safe to say that it was at least partially responsible for a poor season that saw him hit .192/.240/.327 with four home runs in 167 MLB plate appearances.

Bradish winds up 1-1 with a 2.53 ERA and a 47/10 K/BB in 32 innings over six starts in his return from elbow surgery. That incredible 37.3 percent strikeout rate would seem to bode really well for next year. He came in at 25.0 percent in his breakthrough season in 2023, but he was also up to 32.5 percent in eight starts before getting hurt last year.

Sugano closed out the regular season with an abbreviated clunker at Yankee Stadium that included three long balls, bringing his season total to 33 round-trippers. He finished with three strikeouts and didn’t hand out a free pass. The durable 35-year-old lived up to the offseason billing as a low-strikeout, pitch-to-contact innings-eater, finishing his Orioles debut with a pedestrian 4.64 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 106/36 K/BB ratio across 157 innings over 30 starts.

It’s been a whirlwind few weeks for Ragsdale, who finds himself back in Baltimore’s bullpen for the final weekend of the regular season just a couple days after being claimed off waivers from Atlanta. The 27-year-old rookie was hit hard earlier this month in his big-league debut. He’ll likely pitch in mop-up duty this weekend against the Yankees.

Wolfram returns to Baltimore’s bullpen for the final weekend of the regular season with fellow southpaw Dietrich Enns away on paternity leave. The 28-year-old lefty has posted a pedestrian 4.85 ERA and 31/12 K/BB ratio across 26 innings of work over 20 appearances this season at the big-league level.

It’s a procedural move to free up an additional roster spot after Povich was lit up for five runs over 5 2/3 innings on Thursday against the Rays in his final regular-season outing. The 25-year-old finishes an underwhelming campaign with an inflated 5.21 ERA and 118/43 K/BB ratio across 112 1/3 innings over 22 appearances (20 starts).

Rutschman has gone 1-for-11 with a triple in four games since returning from the injured list earlier this week following a five-week absence recovering from an oblique strain. Some signs of rust were inevitable since the 27-year-old backstop got only a handful of rehab contests under his belt prior to making it back to Baltimore. It’ll be top prospect Samuel Basallo handling the catching duties during Saturday afternoon’s matinee affair at Yankee Stadium.

Westburg made Yanks’ starter Will Warren pay for an 0-2 sweeper that inexplicably caught too much of the plate and sent it exactly one row deep in the left field stands. He had two other base hits in this game as well while he tries to end what’s been an inconsistent season for him – mostly due to a few trips to the injured list – on a high note.

Rogers simply could not keep the ball in the yard here. Giancarlo Stanton took him deep for a two-run shot in the first and then Aaron Judge and Stanton again did so in the third. Those were the only hits he’d give up, but it was still enough to chase him after three innings. He hadn’t allowed a long ball since all the way back on August 30th and it’s a shame that his resurgent season ended with a poor start like this one. Still, he turned in a beautiful 1.81 ERA with a 10-_ record and 103 strikeouts over 109 2/3 innings as one of the most surprising pitchers this year.

Beavers fouled a ball off of his leg earlier in the ballgame. He was replaced by Dylan Carlson when the O’s took the field to start the fourth inning. It doesn’t sound like anything that should lead to any sort of extended absence, so the 24-year-old outfielder should be considered day-to-day.

Basallo sat out Thursday’s game with a sore wrist after he was plunked by a pitch during Wednesday’s contest against the Rays. X-rays came back negative for any fractures though and the pain and swelling have subsided enough for Basallo to return to the Orioles’ lineup as the designated hitter on Friday evening. He’ll bat eighth against Will Warren and the Yankees.

Holliday was scratched from Wednesday’s lineup due to discomfort in his knee and was held out of action on Thursday as well as a precautionary measure. It appears to have been just a minor issue though as he’s right back in there on Friday and batting leadoff against Will Warren and the Yankees.

Beavers had already walked and scored before hitting his fourth homer to end it. He’s batted .245/.389/.421 in 127 plate appearances since being called up, which, combined with some terrific Triple-A numbers, should earn him the right to be penciled into the 2026 lineup. The Orioles, though, could look for some help there. Right now, they have Beavers, Colton Cowser, Tyler O’Neill and Jeremiah Jackson as their top four for the 2026 outfield, with Enrique Bradfield Jr. perhaps in line to contribute by midseason.

Generating soft contact and six whiffs, Povich’s curve was effective the 39 times he threw it today. The other 60 pitches, however, left much to be desired. Three different Rays hit balls at least 110 mph off him. Povich finishes up 3-8 with a 5.21 ERA in 112 1/3 innings. As a rookie last year, he was 3-9 with a 5.20 ERA in 79 2/3 innings. Assuming that the Orioles add at least a little rotation help this winter, Povich should open 2026 back in Triple-A.

Mountcastle DH’d today in what might have been his final home game in Baltimore. He’s hit .262/.301/.404 with five homers and 20 RBI in 36 games since returning from a strained hamstring. The Orioles have him under control for one more year, but they might decide against paying the $8 million or so it would take to bring him back in arbitration.

The Orioles claimed Ragsdale off waivers from the Giants in August, lost him to the Braves on waivers a week ago after one major league appearance and now have him back. Ragsdale’s one appearance for the Orioles, when he gave up eight runs in three innings, is his lone MLB experience. He’ll surely go back on waivers next month, but the Orioles will hope to keep him in the organization.

Hamel was claimed off waivers from the Mets on Saturday and optioned to Triple-A. He’s never been outrighted before and he isn’t eligible for minor league free agency this winter, so he’ll be a part of the Orioles’ 2026 pitching depth if he clears waivers.

Holliday was scratched from Wednesday’s lineup with knee discomfort, and he will not be in the lineup on Thursday either. With Baltimore already eliminated from playoff contention, it makes no sense for them to put the 21-year-old in the lineup unless he’s 100 percent. Whether or not he makes it back into the lineup this weekend remains to be seen. Jorge Mateo will start at second base in Holliday’s place on Thursday.

Basallo was hit by a pitch during Wednesday’s game against the Rays, but x-rays came back negative for any fracture. Whether or not Basallo actually plays tomorrow is anybody’s guess right now. The Orioles do not need to rush back their top prospect if he’s anything less than 100 percent.

Basallo appears to have dodged serious injury after being hit by a 96 mph offering from Rays closer Pete Fairbanks during the ninth inning of Wednesday’s contest. The 21-year-old top prospect may need some time off for the pain and swelling to subside, but he’s likely going to be fine, which is a relief for the Orioles and fantasy managers alike.

It’s Wells’ worst showing in the four starts since he returned from Tommy John, but it was still a very positive September for the 31-year-old, who winds up 2-1 with a 2.91 ERA and an 18/2 K/BB in 21 2/3 innings. He should certainly be in the Orioles’ plans for 2026, though if the team adds to the rotation — and it certainly ought to — he might find himself in middle relief or Triple-A initially.

It sounds like the Orioles aren’t going to take any chances in what amounts to a meaningless contest with Holliday experiencing some knee discomfort. It doesn’t sound like a serious concern, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see the 21-year-old former top prospect sit out a couple additional games during the final week of the season for precautionary reasons. Jordan Westburg moves over to the keystone with rookie standout Jeremiah Jackson handling the hot corner.
